Communication is the most basic form of connection.

At Ruler, we’ve always believed that how we think, how we work, and how we show up as a team directly shapes the work we deliver. Still, at some point, we realised something important: our communication deserved the same level of intention, structure, and investment as our strategy, creativity, and tech.

So we decided to explore how we could upgrade the way we present ourselves, both as individuals and as an agency.

During our research, we crossed paths with many communication agencies and coaches.
Most followed the same pattern:

Someone visits the company.
They present generic slides.
They share bold stories, clever jokes, and “what you should do.”

That never felt enough.

The only approach that truly stood out was SpeakOut and especially Christina Christodoulou.

Why?

Because she didn’t arrive as an external expert.
She arrived as part of the process.

No slides. No generic coaching framework.
Instead, she became present inside the company—observing, listening, asking uncomfortable but necessary questions, and actively shaping a tailor-made program based on Ruler’s real needs, culture, and people.

Christina didn’t start by telling us how to communicate better. She started by asking:

Why do you need this?
What do you want to optimise?
What do emphasize as an agency?
Which values are you proud of and how do they actually show up, day to day?

Each session opened a new world.

We explored:

👉 How we communicate under pressure

👉 How people feel about themselves inside a team

👉 How close we really are to what we say we value

👉 How psychological safety affects creativity, decision-making, and collaboration

This wasn’t theory.
It was hands-on, sometimes uncomfortable, always real.

The workshops focused heavily on psychological safety, feedback, and participation, grounded in research and practical tools 🛑 not a motivation talk. We learned how teams perform better when they feel safe to speak up, make mistakes, and challenge each other constructively.

So why does this matter to the people we work with?

Because better communication inside the agency directly shapes the experience outside of it.

This process sharpened:

✅ How we listen before proposing solutions

✅ How we read between the lines of briefs, feedback, and concerns

✅ How we challenge ideas constructively and align faster as a team

✅ How we give and receive feedback without defensiveness

✅ How we treat presence, listening, and clarity as skills you train, not traits you’re born with.

It strengthened our ability to communicate clearly, honestly, and calmly, especially when things are complex, fast-moving, or demanding. That clarity translates into smoother collaboration, better decision-making, and work that reflects not just expertise, but understanding.

We learned that there is no perfect way to communicate. Only a human one.

At Ruler, we see communication as responsibility.

This collaboration wasn’t about improving how we speak. It was a long-term investment in how Ruler thinks, speaks, listens, and grows.
