Ostracon
Science in Motion
VISIT WEBSITEOstracon is an Athens-based medical technology company, founded in 2006 in Larissa as an orthopedic-implant engineering project and now representing leading international brands in physiotherapy, rehabilitation and performance across Greece. Its belief is simple: movement is science, movement is life.
The Project
Ostracon had outgrown its original identity — a literal, figurative mark that no longer matched a company operating at the intersection of science, engineering and human recovery. Ruler was brought in to lead a full rebrand: a precise, modern, unmistakably scientific identity built to carry Ostracon from clinic to conference stage.
What we did
- Brand strategy & positioning — “Science in Motion”
- Logo redesign — a geometric “ostracon” wordmark, circular monogram and full lockup system
- Monochromatic palette — Carbon Graphite & Ceramic Mist
- Typography — Neue Montreal & Manrope
- Complete application system — stationery, print, signage, vehicle livery, apparel, exhibition and digital / social
- A 65-page brand guidelines document
Branding
Ostracon was founded in 2006 in Larissa as a pioneering orthopedic-implant project, driven by a single belief — movement is science, movement is life. Two decades on, headquartered in Athens and representing leading international medical brands, the company needed an identity as advanced as the science it stands for. Ruler led the rebrand end to end.
We replaced the old figurative logo with a precise, geometric wordmark, supported by a circular monogram drawn from the letterforms and a disciplined system of lockups. The palette is strictly monochromatic — Carbon Graphite against Ceramic Mist — and the type pairing of Neue Montreal and Manrope keeps every touchpoint clinical, calm and confident. “Science in Motion” anchors the voice throughout.
The identity was then extended across a complete application system: stationery and print, environmental signage, vehicle livery, apparel, exhibition stands and a full digital and social presence — all codified in a 65-page brand guidelines document so the brand holds together at every scale.
